iRacing.com and Intel have partnered to create the Intel GP Series which will be a global online racing competition as part of the Intel Extreme Masters Tournament worldwide professional gaming competition.intellogos

The Intel GP Series consists of three one-week series on iRacing that will determine ten finalists from each of three regions (Europe, Americas/Canada andAsia/Australia). Each region will have their own Regional Finals that will determine the 10 participants in the World Finals. The top ten from all three Regional Finals combined will be invited to race in the World Finals in March of 2011. Total prize money in the Intel GP Series World Finals event is $23,000.

Round One of the Intel GP Series will take place from July 27-August 2 and will feature the European Region. It will consist of 20 lap races beginning at 15 minutes past the hour, every hour, in Star Mazdas at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, with three drop days factored into the scoring.

Stay tuned here for dates and details for the North American and Asia/Australian Regionals coming soon. When it’s time for the North American drivers to run, I may try my hand at it to see how I fair. Anyone out there plan on participating in it? Go here to check it out for yourself.
