Donny Lia, the 31 Year old Nascar Whelan Modified veteran, Lia will be doing double duty this weekend in Pennsylvania at Pocono Raceway. Donny Lia is also a sim racing veteran. Although he doesn’t spend as much time doing it now, he used to be one of the best. Matter of fact, Donny is one of only 8 guys to make it to the NROS finals back in the dawn of online racing on TEN using Nascar Racing 2 by Papyrus.
I used to run against Donny quiet a bit back then and he was definitely alien status on ovals. I don’t think I beat him unless he crashed out.
Donny will drive the No. 55 Toyota for Venturini Motorsports in Saturday’s Weis Markets 125, the 11th race of the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards season. Lia will perform double duty on Saturday at Pocono Raceway as he is also entered in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race as well.
From the looks of Donnys iRacing account, he doesn’t do much sim racing anymore.
A 31-year-old from Jericho, N.Y., Lia won in a 2008 Camping World Truck Series race at Mansfield Motorsports Park and is a veteran of 110 starts on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, having amassed 15 victories. Lia will drive the No. 21 Chevrolet in Saturday’s Truck Series event, which is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., two hours before the Weis Markets 125.
